How We Create Custom Engravings for Wedding Bands: D & E’s Story

There are infinite ways to make a pair of wedding bands uniquely yours, but nothing feels quite as intimate as a personalised engraving.
At Fujimori Kajita, each engraving is done by a craftsman who specialises in it in our atelier in Japan, shaped carefully through conversations, sketches, and trials to capture a couple’s story in the most delicate form.
Today, we’re sharing D & E’s engraving journey, a wonderful example of how a simple idea can grow into something truly meaningful.
D & E envisioned a “Two-as-One” engraving, where each ring looks complete on its own, but forms a unified image when placed together. At the centre of their idea is a globe-like motif, symbolising their wish to travel more together as a couple.
Customising the Details: Sketches & Wedding Band Engraving Considerations
Each ring also carries a personal illustration of the wearer surrounded by elements they love.
- E’s ring includes an egg she adores, and a plane flying over a mountain, her little symbol of adventure.
- D’s ring features a soccer ball and a cat, nodding to the things that bring him joy.
When we combined all these details into the initial drawing, we realised some parts might become too fine once engraved on the inner surface of the ring. Although our craftsman can engrave extremely delicate lines, we always strive for the final result to remain clear and easy to read.
From there, they refined a few elements, and we helped them adjust the line thickness and spacing for a more balanced composition.
The Final Engraving
Once everything is adjusted, our craftsman begins engraving the actual rings.
The final result is a beautifully balanced custom wedding band engraving, full of personal touches, shared dreams, and the exact emotion D & E envisioned.
