Named after its original source in Labrador, Canada, labradorite is commonly referred to as a Blue moonstone. A variety of the moonstone, a labradorite appears as if it had captured the azure blue sky in crystal clear water, labradorite radiates with a shimmering mystical luminescence.

 

Labradorite is as blue as the Morpho Butterfly with a quivering blue radiance. It display an iridescent visual effect known as labradorescence which is similar to adularescence.
